A line is defined as the shortest distance between two points. In Onshape, you can create a line or a continuous series of line segments by using the Line tool. he method for creating a line is discussed below.

  1. Click on the Line tool in the Sketch toolbar, see Figure 2.21. The Line tool gets activated. Alternatively, you can press the L. key to activate the Line tool.

    Tip: You can also invoke the Sketch shortcut toolbar by pressing the S key to access the sketching tools, see Figure 2.22.

  2. Click to specify a start point and an endpoint of a line one by one in the graphics area. A line is drawn between the specified points, see Figure 2.23. Notice that the current length of the line is displayed in a dimension field. Additionally, a rubber band line is displayed with one of its ends fixed to the last specified point and the other end attached to the cursor. This indicates that a series of continuous line segments can be drawn by clicking the left mouse button one after another in the graphics area, refer to Figure 2.24.
